"The fear of the Lord Leads to wisdom, and humility comes before honor."
The Master of Arts in Ecclesial Theology program studies traditional theological disciplines, but it places a meaningful emphasis on how those disciplines impact the local church. Our hope is that every student in the M.A. will be so deeply immersed in Holy Scripture that their instincts and intuition in life and ministry will be shaped by the biblical story and their place within it to the benefit of their church community. To effectively foster this biblically saturated mind, students in the program will take biblical language, theology, and applied ecclesiology courses. And, since our school exists to serve the Church, we have designed much of our curriculum to be completed in the context of the local church, having students meaningfully involved in church-based service and ministry as they work through their courses.
Both M.A. and M.Div. students have the option to designate a concentration in counseling, church planting, or youth and family ministry. In order to complete a concentration, students must devote all Applied Ministry courses, free electives, the applied theology capstone, and, for M.Div. students, the thesis capstone to the ministry concentration. For the M.A., the concentration amounts to nine credit hours and the M.Div. provides and additional nine credits in a concentration.
